Shark in the Water

VV Brown has been stirring up quite some talk in the States as her song, Shark in the Water, has been catching on our airwaves. Stumbling upon opportunities to start a music career, this bright 27 year old declined placement in UK's top universities such as Oxford, King's College London, LSE and York. Talented as she is smart, VV wrote the music, played multiple instruments and produced her debut album, Travelling Like the Light, inspired by the 1950s and electronic music and sounds from Game Boy and Nintendo. She likes to refer her music as "indie doo-wop/musical mashed potatoes" as her sound is influenced from artists such as Ruth Brown, Elvis Presley and the game, Super Marioland. To complete her look, she opts for retro bangs and a-line dresses. Maybe her appearance in Vogue magazine (before making it big) or walking the runway for Naomi Campbell's charity fashion show had something to do with her style. Whether influence or not, VV's look and sound is undeniably in!
