Music Mondays: Norah Jones

Tuesday, April 13, 2010

Norah Jones

We were quite impressed when Norah came out with her first hit, "Don't Know Why." The jazzy yet indie feel of her music caught our attention. Now after 8 years in the business, Norah proves that a woman can be as classy as she and succeed. With a new cropped hairdo and a wardrobe we approve of this updated look from her previous youthful long waved hair. Click on the video below to watch her "Chasing Pirates" music video.

J E T

Forgotten about JET? We sure haven't! The Australian garage rock band has infested our playlist with tracks from their Shaka Rock album. K.I.A., She's a Genius and Seventeen are few of the tracks from their third album that is booming through our speakers. Of course, we're also listening to their previous hits such as Cold Hard and Are You Gonna Be My Girl. The band is currently touring the US and is playing tonight in Michigan and wrapping up in Ohio tomorrow. Make sure you download their free mp3 Seventeen on their website and check out their She's a Genius music video on this page.

Anjulie "Day Will Soon Come"

Have a listen to indie pop singer/songwriter Anjulie! Raised in Oakville, Ontario by her Guyanese parents Anjulie started singing and writing songs during her teen years and since then has had her music featured on shows such as The Hills, The City, Eastwick, Canada's Next Top Model and Vampire Diaries, opened for Jesse McCartney's 2009 tour and released her first self-titled album on August 04, 2009. Inspired by her three older siblings' taste in music, Anjulie's sound is of Afro-Caribbean calypso, South American Latin music, pop and rock influence. Her first single Boom reached #1 on the U.S. Dance charts and we hope only for more!

Risqué Gaga in Telephone Music Video

Telephone Music Video

Lady Gaga's Telephone music video featuring Beyoncé premiered on March 11, 2010. Originally set to be released on March 08, 2010, final editing cost an extra few days. And those few days paid off! By the first 24 hours of its release, they attracted over one million views on youtube!

More risqué than ever, Lady Gaga strips naked, swears, poisons, kisses an inmate and runs away with her partner in crime, "Honey Bee" Beyoncé. Her crazy and wild fashion reigns again as she dresses in chains, tape and telephone hair. Thanks to her stylist, Nicola Formichetti, we're able to share with you the designers of the outfits found in her video. A bit too racy for us to post on our blog, you can catch her long awaited video on her official website or youtube.

Zee Avi "Bitter Heart"

Zee Avi, born Izyan Alirahman, was discovered by Patrick Keeler of The Raconteurs on Youtube who recommended her video postings to Ian Montone, the manager of The White Stripes, The Shins, The Raconteurs and others. Thanks to Montone, she was able to establish a record deal with Brushfire Records. This Mylasian singer/songwriter has since then toured across the US and has recorded tracks for television shows such as Private Practice and the short film Oliver People. See her website for tour dates and news.

Timbaland's "If We Ever Meet Again"

Monday, March 1, 2010

Timbaland has collaborated with many artists in his Shock Value 2 album including Justin Timberlake, JoJo, Miley Cyrus, Drake, Jet, and The Fray, just to name a few. We're jamming to his song If We Ever Meet Again featuring Katy Perry. It's catchy and undeniably his electronic dance, pop music style. Now, get off that chair and start dancing!!

Pretty Spring GaGa

Lady GaGa

Lately, Lady Gaga has been turning our heads with her high-end, couture loving, daring and risky fashion taste. But before her Bad Romance days, she showed us a sweeter side as seen in her Eh, Eh (Nothing Else I Can Say) video. Bright colors, florals and bows are the trend this spring and Miss GaGa showcases them perfectly!
