The Girl and Her Bass

With a voice of an angel, Esperanza Spalding is one artist you want running through your speakers. Singing in multiple languages with a neo-jazz style, Esperanza lures you into her uncanny melody. Her recognition and love of music started after watching Yo Yo Ma on Mister Rogers' Neighborhood. Esperanza knew, from that moment, that music would be her career pursuit. Within one year she taught herself how to play the violin and landed a spot in The Chamber Society of Oregon. By age 15, she held a concert master position and by then, learned the bass. At 20, she became the youngest faculty in the history of Berklee College of Music. Her fame spreading worldwide, the singing sensation having appeared on Late Show with David Letterman, Jimmy Kimmel Live, CBS Saturday Early Show and Nobel Peace Prize Ceremony and Prize Concert. Take a look at her official website for updates and details on upcoming concerts.
